INSTITUTE MISSION STATEMENT
Provide all employers access to both basic and advanced occupational Safety and Health training to increase workers safety and health in Montana.
Note: This Schedule and Instructions are intended for employers and employees both in the public and private sectors.
IMPORTANT POINTS OF INFORMATION
- Registration forms must be filled out completely. See How to Register for information on how to register.
- Courses fill quickly and seating is limited. Registrations are on a first-come, first-serve basis. There are no waiting lists. If a class is full, please plan alternate courses and/or dates.
- No tuition for courses as explained in Tuition Fees Policy.
- Check to see if you should bring personal protective equipment. See individual course descriptions.
- Casual attire is appropriate for class attendance.
- In addition to specific course curriculum, each student shall be in attendance for the full course time period for the course to be considered as successfully completed.
INTRODUCTION TO THE MONTANA OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY/HEALTH TRAINING INSTITUTE
The Montana Occupational Safety & Health Training Institute provides basic and advanced training courses in safety and health. Course subject matter includes hazard recognition, state and federal policies and standards, and hazard abatement techniques. Courses are designed to build a more effective workforce and to aid in professional development for Montana employers and employees.
Course instructions are held on dates, times and locations as described in Description: Schedule of Courses.
HOW TO REGISTER
Registration for courses can be made electronically or by submitting a completed Registration Form to the Montana Dept. of Labor & Industry, Occupational Safety & Health Bureau, P.O Box 1728, Helena, MT. 59624-1728 and received no later than 14 days prior to the Course starting date. Applications for registration can be received by calling (406) 444-6401.

- Name of Employer
- Name of Student(s)
- Business Mailing Address and E-mail Address
- Business Telephone Number
*Enrollment cannot take place without all of the above information being provided
REGISTRATION CONFIRMATION
Course confirmation inquires may be conducted by calling (406) 444-6401, Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
CANCELLATION POLICY
Cancellation of registration should be made by calling (406) 444-6401. Unless a cancellation is received, space for your attendance will be reserved. Due to limited space, if you cannot attend a class as originally anticipated, please advise at the earliest time possible in order that this space can be utilized.
TUITION FEES POLICY
The Montana Occupational Safety & Health Training Institute does not require payment for attendance to its courses. All other expenses including travel, lodging and meals are the responsibility of the student.
HOTEL AND MOTEL RESERVATIONS
Students must make their own arrangements for lodging and meals.

Personal Protective Equipment Requirements
Students are required to furnish and have available their own personal protective equipment required by the course as listed in the course descriptions Course Descriptions. Students who fail to bring the appropriate personal protective equipment cannot be permitted to participate in off-site instructions.
REQUESTS FOR RECORDS POLICY
The Montana Occupational Safety & Health Training Institute maintains a record of courses successfully completed by each student (students shall be in attendance for the full course time period for the course to be considered successfully completed).
An individual record of course attendance can be obtained upon written request of the participant. The request shall be addressed to the Montana Occupational Safety & Health Training Institute, P.O. Box 1728, Helena, MT. 59624. Requests must specify the name of the student, course number, and dates of each course session for which a record is desired.
CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS / PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT HOURS
The Institute offers Office of Public Instruction Renewal Units earned at an hour for hour rate rounded to the nearest whole hour. Water/Wastewater Operator Certification continuing education credits are offered for all completed courses and awarded at .1 per one hour of contact time. Attendees should contact course instructors upon completion of courses for verification of training received.
Special requests for Professional Development Hours will also be accommodated. The Institute makes no claim as to universal acceptability of C.E.C.’s. Approval of C.E.C.’s/P.D.H.’s are determined by the appropriate boards of certification.
